Shall we promenade?
I’ve got Bridgerton on the brain and not just because season 2 is around the corner. A recent trip to Homesense (my happy place) led me to discover The Unofficial Bridgerton Colouring Book by Sara Richard. Think pages full of lush gardens, lavish ballrooms and Regency era decor. It’s the perfect countdown companion to the March 25th premiere.
Speaking of beautiful interiors, I'm obsessed with Shonda Rimes' beautiful apartment in Architectural Digest. The de Gournay wallpaper, the stunning artwork, the dining room that doubles as a library, the orange tree that sits by the sunlit writing table—I love it all.
Current beauty obsessions
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Sunscreen: My new favourite product from the brand (I swear by the Avocado Ceramide Redness Relief Serum). Sunscreens aren’t exactly known for their sensorial experience, but this one is both practical and pleasurable. It gives a glowy finish, thanks to ingredients like hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, and doesn't take much effort to work into the skin (translation: no white cast).
U Beauty The Barrier Bioactive Treatment: This splurgy mask worked wonders for my winter-weary and sleep-deprived skin. The jellyfish-inspired overnight treatment strengthens your skin barrier while you sleep. While I’m barely sleeping, I can confirm that the juicy, baby-like skin that founder Tina Chen Craig talks about is 100% real.
Métange Duality Stone: As I get back into having some semblance of a beauty routine as a new mom, this has become my go-to tool. You can use it to relieve tension in the neck and shoulders, or give yourself a scalp massage—both things I sorely need these days.
The perfect basque burnt cheesecake
The next time you’re invited to a dinner party, offer to bring dessert and get the basque burnt cheesecake from Soft Dough Co., a Toronto-based online pastry shop. The cake—and you!—are guaranteed to be a hit. Its deep, rich flavour and melt-in-your-mouth texture is downright delicious. Plus, it manages to look beautiful even when you’re multiple slices deep.
What brings you joy, Ingrie and Emily?
Ingrie Williams and Emily MacCulloch are the co-founders of The T-Zone, a digital platform where beauty meets fun.
“Being able to return to a regular hot yoga practice at my local studio has been a bright spot during recent weeks. I could never get into at-home workouts and while my daily 2k walks have been a sanity-saver through the pandemic, nothing compares to the feeling of settling into śavāsana after being wrung out from a class. I always emerge more grounded, relaxed, totally rejuvenated and empowered. And I am so grateful for the chance to rediscover the power of moving meditation, along with the energy of a group vibe, once again.” - Ingrie Williams
“Unlike many people, I don't find joy in breaking a sweat, cooking, reading or most things to be honest (sorry, not sorry!). But one thing that has helped me to escape the heaviness and anxiety that has been a constant in my head for the last while has been getting out of the city and plopping myself down in the woods or a hiking trail to just wipe my brain clean, at least temporarily. Getting outside, especially off the regular 10 block radius that surrounds my apartment has been very therapeutic, in a small sense. But honourable mention goes to a stellar lipstick too (like this one by Kjaer Weis), as two clean swipes really does make me feel like a whole new (much more put-together) person and is the epitome of a small joy.” - Emily MacCulloch
