Cannot emphasize this enough. Tell me why it’s become normal to spend $$$ on products we may or may not have an actual need for, have never tested before, or could easily sub with something that is a fraction of the price and delivers the same results?
As another commenter mentioned, Byoma’s hydrating serum is elite. Great alone or for layering. I also enjoy Naturium’s vitamin c complex serum (although they should really say what percentage vitamin C is in there—unverified sources claim it’s around 10) and their Bio-Lipid Restoring Body Lotion (only buy on sale and wish it came in a richer formula for the winter months). I balk at spending over $20 for body creams which are essentially tubes of silicone and petrolatum. If you want anything with a decent amount of shea or ceramides in it you have to head to natural health stores. I bought a tube of Nivea’s Care Nourishing cream for my hands a few months ago and now it’s impossible to find. I hope they haven’t discontinued it. It was the only thing on the shelf on sale at the time that had shea in it. Drugstore hair products in my experience continue to be hot garbage (every shampoo I try is either too drying or leaves tons of buildup) and I look forward to improvement in this category.
Love all the Byoma serum recommendations! Will have to add the Naturium vitamin c serum to my list as well. I also really like La Roche Posay’s C10 serum.
Batiste was amazing like ten years ago when it was just the original formula, now I find my can runs out after only a few uses…and the price keeps going up :(
God I wish my local drugstore sold Nuxe. Their bronze body oil is goddess-making.
L'Oreal Voluminous for the win! And any mascara from Maybelline for that matter. Cerave is also perennially in my rotation for moisturizer. Agree with Emily on Byoma - their serums are top-tier and so wonderfully priced for a civilian like me :)
I remember when the nyx micro brow pencil was $9, now it's almost $20 at my local shopper's and rexall. Drugstore used to be affordable yet I find it almost the same prices as sephora brands, still cheaper of course but less budget friendly.
I love this! I think drug store makeup is not getting the moment it deserves. Not everyone can consistently buy the $100 foundation every few months!
Agree! There are so many affordable, quality options out there. You don’t have to splurge for every beauty category.
*adds all to cart* love this list and insider POV!!
Thanks, Ashley!!

Another fan of the Byoma hydrating serum. I mean, the ingredient list is STACKED! I use it everyday and night.

Aquaphor is the best!!

Love Aquaphor—the ultimate multitasker!
The dry shampoo I use and love is Klorane.
The Nuxe dry oil is iconic!

Drugstore mascara, always! I’m a big Cerave cleanser girl and I need to try the Byoma serum. Adding it to my list!
The hydrating serum is the best!
It really is. I’ve turned so many people onto it. I just wish there were more product for the price.
